Short version: your wardrobe lives on your phone, not on our servers. A few things leave it, each only when you use them — listed below.

Effective October 19, 2026

The short version

DressClan is a wardrobe app for iPhone and Android. Your photos, wardrobe, outfit plans and family profiles stay on your device — they are never sold or used for advertising. You sign in with an account, but the wardrobe itself lives on your phone (or, if you turn on Premium iCloud sync on iPhone, in your own private iCloud).

A few things leave your phone, each only when you use it: photos you send to smarter garment detection (off until you agree; analysed, not stored), what you type into the support form when you tap Submit, and anonymous usage metrics if you switch them on. Children's photos you add are treated exactly like yours.

Your photos stay on your device

Wardrobe photos, family member photos, profile pictures, and the small thumbnails the app makes from them are stored only on your phone. Finding the clothes in a photo starts on your device, with Apple's on-device vision on iPhone and Google's on-device ML Kit on Android.

Smarter garment detection (optional, off until you agree): if you turn it on, a photo of a person that you import is sent over HTTPS to DressClan's server on Amazon Web Services and analysed by Amazon Bedrock to find the garments in it. The photo is not stored by us, not kept by AWS, not used to train AI models, and not shared with anyone else. Only the list of garments comes back, and it is saved on your phone. You can turn it off any time in Profile; with it off, your photos are never sent anywhere.

Order-email import reads the email text you paste on your phone only — it is never uploaded. Snap to shop analyses the photo on your phone and doesn't save it.

Optional iCloud sync (Premium, iPhone): if you turn it on in Profile, your wardrobe is also copied to your own private iCloud storage so it appears on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. That copy lives in your iCloud — we never see it. Turning sync off keeps everything on this iPhone; the iCloud copy stays until you remove the app's iCloud data in Settings.

Deleting a photo, an item, or a family member removes it from the device. Signing out with "Delete all my data" wipes the local wardrobe completely.

Analytics (optional, off by default)

Anonymous usage metrics are OFF unless you switch them on in Profile → Usage Metrics. When on, DressClan counts things like button taps (e.g. "Generate plan"), which tabs you visit, Discover search queries, how many wardrobe items each person has, and crash/error logs.

These counts travel under a random install ID that contains no name, email, or account. They never include photos, your item list, precise location, or anything you typed outside a Discover search. Counts are sent as ranges (e.g. "2–5 items"), never exact inventories. Queued events are capped at 500 and oldest-first trimmed.

Turning the toggle off deletes everything queued and retires the install ID — a retired ID is never reused, so past and future counts can't be linked.

Support requests

The Help & Support form (Profile → the ? icon) sends only what you put in it: your email or username, subject, request type, description, and an optional screenshot. Nothing is sent until you tap Submit.

Location — weather only

DressClan can check the weather where you are to suggest weather-appropriate outfits. It uses your location only if you grant permission, or the ZIP code you type into your profile. The weather lookup sends approximate coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service, with no name or account attached; we don't store or share your location.

Family and children's photos

Family member names and photos you add are used only to run the app's family features — each person's wardrobe, the planner's member picker, and photo analysis.

We collect nothing from children directly. If you add a child as a family member, their photo and name follow the same rules as every other photo: stored on your device, never used for advertising, never shared. A child's photo leaves the phone only if you use smarter garment detection on it — and then it is analysed, not stored. With Premium iCloud sync, copies go only to your own private iCloud. Only a parent or guardian should add a child to the app.

Accounts and sign-in

An account is required to use DressClan. You sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address or phone number and a password; sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito. We store your sign-in identifier (your email, phone number, or Apple / Google account identifier) and an account ID — not your wardrobe.

Your wardrobe stays on the device (or in your own iCloud with Premium sync on iPhone). Signing in as a different person removes the previous person's data from the phone. You can delete your account from Profile at any time.

Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through your App Store account on iPhone, or by Google Play on Android. We never see or store your payment details.

Discover links

Discover links open retailer pages in an in-app browser so your purchase stays attributed to the shop. When you buy through a partner link, DressClan may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — see the disclosure next to each recommendation. We don't track what you do on the retailer's site.

On the Free plan, Discover may show sponsored rows when ads are enabled. They use no advertising IDs and no cross-app tracking.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the website and the in-app screen together and note the new effective date above. The current version always lives in the app: Profile → Privacy Policy.
